Pushing Daisies

So I'm home for the weekend and kinda bored. Sure, it's good to see my family; the reason I came home, but my parents pass out around 10, and my sister has quite the active social life. So I have been reduced to watching TV, more specifically, shows my parents DVRed. My dad sad I might like "Pushing Daisies", a show about a guy with the ability to bring people back to life for a minute. Not only is the concept interesting, but the way the show is done is very unique. The only thing I can equate the style to is the Grinch with Jim Carey. It's honestly narrated in that same Dr. Suess sing-songy way, but not at all in a childish way. The dialog is well written, with humorous bits, slipped in that are missed if you don't pay attention - smart humor, the kind I like. Everything about the show is so unique, from the way it's filmed to the bizarre, indistinguishable time period. The characters are so quirky and bizarre, not to mention the acting is excellent, almost to a corny extent - without going over the top. I love the editing as well; the scenes are shot in such a saturated way, with such a vivid color palette, it's almost like a fantasy show. Pushing Daisies is just very endearing in every aspect - I suppose it appeals to my artistic nature. It's going to be added to my "must watch every week list", which says a lot, considering there are only 2 other shows that make that cut. I guess it's no surprise, though, as it was created by Bryan Fuller, who is also responsible for the big hit Heroes.
